Prophetic Word by Cindy Jacobs given during the ROOT 52 Commissioning Conference Call August 20, 2010

The Lord would say to you California I am making you, I am giving you as the prayer network great authority to shift the nation says the Lord. The Lord says to you there are seeds of prayer that are in the ground of California – generational prayers that I am getting ready to answer not just your prayers says the Lord. For I have been waiting for those I could give a mantle to says the Lord, who could be those who stand for legacy in this state.

And the Lord says, California [this is what I see] it looks like a garden that was untended in some way in other words there were beautiful plants but it hadn’t been kept weeded or a pristine garden the Lord meant for it to be but the Lord is really showing me the weeds are getting cleared and the underbrush is getting cleared out so you will be able to see the road map that clear map of what I want to do in the state says the Lord.

The Lord says, the unity that you have reached this week [CA ROOT 52] is the beginning but you are going to be known as a Philadelphia state and there is going to be such unity among the believers and the Lord says, I am anointing and appointing this state particularly to shift for the next election and the Lord says this next election is key for California for I desire to bless this state says the Lord. I love this state and I desire to shift it but the Lord says you are at a ‘tipping point’ whether you will go from shaking to blessing – I am either going to shake it or release a blessing – but the Lord says, I will have a revival either way.

The Lord says, I am going to ‘breath’ with revival and the Lord says, My Spirit will fall in many, many, places but I am going to begin a revival in Central California and the Lord says there will be miracles and signs and wonders and breakout in the Latino community and I will ‘breath’ and it will go to the rest of the state says the Lord.

And the Lord says I am going to start breaking out among the Asians of Los Angeles even in Chinatown, there’s going to be a great move of God coming to Chinatown in San Francisco and Los Angeles and I literally see these Chinese anointed young leaders that are going into these places, these pockets of resistance for the gospel. And the Lord says, I am going to move in a great way, you are going to loose a youth revival for a Jesus people revival is coming again and it’s going to come like a mighty rushing wind and like a flood of the Spirit says the Lord.

California is not only a statewide voice but she is also a national and international voice.

As we continue week by week praying through the ROOT 52 Prayer Initiative we corporately declare, “California stands united in covenant alignment for both our state and our nation”. Our corporate thrust is purposed to see the United States of America continue her stand for righteousness and holding her declared namesake as “the land of covenants,” especially at a time when the enemy is trying to divide, persecute, intimidate and paralyze our nation through a covenant breaking strategy to bring a false governmental covering over our land. To disarm this battle RPN CA hosts a weekly corporate prayer call on Tuesday evening to unite in declaration and agreement with each states submitted prayer strategy.

During our RPN Commissioning call on August 20^th Cindy Jacobs released a word for California:

Unity, a new level of unity is being reached and we will be known as the Philadelphia state, a state of brotherly love… She went onto say that we will unify ….. God is giving us great authority to shift the nation…seeds of prayers…generations of prayers…God has been waiting for those who he can pass the mantle to … An authority to shift the next election has been given, I desire to shift the state – we are at a ‘tipping point’ to either shake or bless… My Spirit will fall on many cities…but especially the Central area…it will start with the Latino communities and go to the rest of the state…Asians in Los Angeles…My Spirit’s going to move in a great way…

Governmental Order

We have declared that both our state seal and state motto align with God’s intended purpose with the changes to be as follows: The motto originally submitted in1959 with a choice to say “In God we Trust” shall now be established removing the old motto and wrong choice “Eureka” and the state seal presently reflected under the watch of Minerva be replaced with the rightful and lawful seating of the Lord of the whole earth revealing it is He who protects, watches over, cares for and causes us to prosper. We declared alignment with the sealing of the Holy Spirit’s power and promise to keep California. We also declared change to the state banner/flag to agree His banner over California is love since the flag was birthed from a place of fear, revolt and rebellion. That being set in divine order and providence we called forth righteousness in covenant agreement, stating God’s divine will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We expect to see further developments and fruitful manifestations of this throughout the state.

While in Napa earlier this year the Lord spoke through Vicki Nohrden and said, “I call you California, you shall no longer be known as the north and the south, I call you California.” Recognizing the division between the north and the south had to be addressed we have purposed to allow the Lord to set His weight of glory and order in the land and as His people we have chosen to take hold of that identity and abide by His word.

We began to address our ROOT 52 covenantal restoration on August 4 when Apostle John Benefiel from the Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network along with his wife Judith came and assisted us on the journey to divorce Baal and covenant our land back to God. Knowing the importance of Jeremiah 1:9 to pull down, tear down,…to build and plant to establish the covenant root in our land we set off on our mission beginning in San Diego and concluding  in the Sonoma/Napa region of the state.  Our journey began at Scripps Institute of Oceanography and continued into Hollywood at the Hollywood sign, the statue of Santa Monica at the gateway of Wilshire Blvd., the hills of the Nine Sisters in San Louis Obispo County and the original location of the Bear Flag Rebellion in Sonoma County. We have already seen much fruit and the reports continue as noted below.

August 5 Scripps Institute of Oceanography

Brown Moth On the morning of August 4^th the San Diego Union Tribune hosted a front page article reporting San Diego county farm produce may require quarantine due to the discovery of a brown moth. Economically this could have a very devastating effect on the state at a time when most farms in the county are the most productive. It would prohibit them from selling their produce. After corporately divorcing Baal we addressed the moth situation and said, “No we will not allow this take root in our county.” One week later the newspaper reported “Growers off Hook”….moth’s posing less danger than feared.” J

Scripps Institute of Oceanography The following morning we went on site to the Scripps Institute where we decreed the ax to the root of the tree-the root of the concept of global warming birthed in 1957 at Scripps Institute of Oceanography in San Diego. Also birth of the tree of knowledge at the University of California San Diego  out of which came the development of the embryonic stem cell research institute’s and now the building of the Sanford Stem-Cell Consortium (Salk Institute, Scripps Institute, Sanford Burnham Institute.) The current emphasis in climate change finds humans as harmful to the earth, so as many as possible should/need to be eliminated. We also declared God created humans and the earth to complement one another. We redeemed the land on site and declared, “The earth is the Lords. As we approached our onsite position we saw two women literally worshipping the sun god right out in the open. We began to sing, “There’s no God like Jehovah.” We also dealt with leviathan at the sea gateway.

We declared Psalm 63 especially verse 3-5, 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

Since that declaration the August 24^th New York Times headlines read U.S. Judge Rules Against Obama’s Stem Cell Policy WASHINGTON — A federal district judge on Monday blocked President Obama’s 2009 executive order that expanded embryonic stem cell research, saying it violated a ban on federal money being used to destroy embryos. The ruling came as a shock to scientists at the National Institutes of Health and at universities across the country, which had viewed the Obama administration’s new policy and the grants provided under it as settled law. Scientists scrambled Monday evening to assess the ruling’s immediate impact on their work…….see The NY TIMES August 24 under TOP Stories.

August 6 The Hollywood Sign

Jonathan and Sharon Ngai led us in prayer and declaration at the top of Hollywood Hills overlooking the Hollywood sign. The sign has been a national and international symbol of the entertainment industry. It’s known that what comes out of Hollywood affects the world and influences the culture for the younger generation. In 1978 Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy held a fundraiser to refurbish the sign when it was dilapidated in the 1970’s.

Apostle Benefiel led us in the Baal divorce decree and the Writ of Assistance as well as the Resolution of Apology. We prayed to uproot the perversion associated with the symbol of Hollywood, we repented and prayed that the Lord would raise up producers with a moral message.

We redeemed the land, declaring covenant with God and staked it with eh scripture verse: Jeremiah 51:44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

Following our prayer we felt a swift breeze in our midst. Jonathan declared that the fresh wind of God’s spirit was cleansing away the perversion. We rejoiced that the Lord was God of all the earth.

August 6 Statue of Santa Monica

This statue that has been described as the gateway into California. It is also known as the Queen of Heaven, and stands at the intersection between Ocean Ave. and Wilshire Blvd., also known as financial gateway. Apostle Benefiel led us in the divorce decree and the Writ of Assistance. We then staked the lines running into her portal power (3 places) with Jeremiah 51:44, and then also poured kosher salt and prayed for a cleansing of the land.

August 7 Nine Sisters Islay Hill in SLO County

RPN team Member and Apostolic Leader Sharon Webster writes: A shift has taken in my region place in regards to unity and restoring covenant in the land — covenant breaking has been a serious issue in this region especially among leaders over the last sixteen years.

On my train trip to San Diego (Aug.3rd)  to join the RPN-HAPN joint mission to divorce Baal from San Diego to Sonoma I began to talk with the Lord about this covenant breaking spirit mostly in regards to how it has affected me in this region. The Lord began to reveal to me the root of the covenant breaking affects [famine in my land] these last three years but I was unsure how to deal with this issue because area leaders were involved so I ask the Lord to show me how and to orchestrate the events that needed to take place to reverse this famine in the land. The Hand of the Lord moved swiftly to reveal the root of the problem on the first night of the RPN-HAPN initiative Dr. John Benefiel shared from II Samuel 21:1 regarding a three year famine in the land and how it was related to covenant breaking — as we moved up the coast of California the Lord revealed more revelation on the cause and what needed to take place in order for me / my region to be released from this famine. On Saturday, August 7th while at the Central Coast divorcing Baal site (Islay Hill 777ft.) the covenant breaking spirit was addressed and the Lord began a work of restoration on site amongst the leaders.

August 8 Sonoma Mission where the Bear Flag Revolt/Rebellion took place

Bea Tapparo writes:

Ø  We declared ‘In God we trust’ as our new state motto.

Ø  As we approached the Bear Flag Revolt monument, Vicki Nohrden saw the mouth of the bear move and we heard the Lord say, “It is time to shut the mouth of the bear” – and we did that as we declared over California that it was time for the bear spirit to be silenced in our state.

Ø  As we gathered in the parking lot for prayer at the end – we look down and in the middle of the circle and saw a can of “Grizzly” snuff.  The Lord said, “I will snuff out the grizzly spirit!”

Ø  We dealt with the deception and lies that were so much a part of our formation.

Ø  Also we so clearly began to see the walls of division come down between northern and southern California and the Lord said, “I call you ‘California’ – you shall no longer be known as north and south, but, I call you “California.” – repenting of competition in the church and dealing with that issue between Sonoma and Napa Counties.

Ø  We divorced Baal, prayed through the Writ of Assistance and the Resolution of Apology with the Native Americans.

Ø  And we confessed and repented of the exportation of drunkenness from the Wine Country in California and dealt with that enabling spirit that causes us to promote the consumption of wine that leads to wrong spirits and declared that God’s Holy Spirit would be known in California and around the nation and the world.  We dealt with false comfort, escapism, and addiction.

Ø  We called for the North Bay region of California to “wake up” from their slumber and hear the voice of the Lord.

ROOT 52 begins

August 13^th we received the prayer torch and several prophetic words from RPN Wisconsin:

God is ready to break open new worship in CA
God has released an anointing to heal the land.
·        Where there has been division, unity will abound and God will bring healing.
·        God wants an altar of worship that supersedes what is being released through Media
·        God calls you a gateway to the prophetic
·        God wants to break the religious spirits in the land. They provide a portal to the demonic realm

God spoke and told California this during the 50 State Tour:
“I say to the ‘groin’ of California: There will be a fracture, and it will create a shaking, and it will seem like the state is weakened; but from the very ‘groin’ of California a net will be placed in, and that net will produce a new strength, and I say, from that area I will cause this state to rise up and stand with Me in the day of adversity.”

The battle over Proposition 8 came to my spirit as I read this. The battle over this seems crippling to the nation, but watch God move.  God is going to begin to expose covert operations in the governmental frame of this State.

There will even be an exposure that will come from an unrighteous alignment between the California judicial system and the Supreme Court…something to do with “inside information.

I hear the scripture 2 Chronicles 7:14, and the Lord says that He is responding to the cries of the saints to reform the state, and I hear God saying that there shall be mighty wave of intercessors that shall arise and it shall be seen…they are awakening now but you shall see it in the next generation…there is a radical army of young intercessors that bombard heaven and they will not be swayed to and fro but will boldly declare the Kingdom of God. Watch over the next 90 days.

While ministering in San Francisco Vicki Nohrden also received the word regarding the Prop 8 battle and the Lord said, “I have Pharaoh right where I want him.”

August 13 Napa Church of the Rock

We began our statewide meeting in Napa County hosted by The Rock Worship and Training Center and our representative for RPN in that region Bea Tapparo. We were joined by representation of 5 adjoining counties as Vicki Nohrden ministered and left us with a word of encouragement and exhortation.  We were reminded that we are not alone but we are in the safety of the “cluster”, California has a prophetic voice, and God has raised us up as an army.  If you take one of the logs off the fire it will go out!  Vicki released a call for the Apostolic to be released in the North Bay Region of California.  We dealt with the covenant breaking spirit, addressed the issue of false prophets and had a powerful time of declaration and decree for California as we prepared to go into San Francisco the next day – San Francisco, the “womb” of California.

August 14 San Francisco House of Prayer Michael Dowling and Ann Trumbo hosted ROOT 52 at Promised Land Church for a 5 hour prayer/ministry meeting

Throughout our ROOT 52 week we purposed to address the root issues in our state. In the book, “The Prophetic Destiny of a Nation” Prophet Chuck Pierce prophesied regarding the hostility in the womb in his prophetic word over California in 2004 so we took the time to address it and pray for governmental order in the church to rise up in the authority God had given us and turn the battle at the gate. San Francisco is known as the womb of the state. We also repented of our hostility towards God’s ways and conception of what he wanted to bring forth. Together we led those who had gathered themselves to pray and intercede. We prayed righteous judgment in the judicial gate especially surrounding the issue of Prop 8. We repented of our own ways and looked to God to bring us as a state in a place of convergence with Him, His ways. We concluded in commitment to stand on the wall and continue to stand.

The following Monday August 17th  a three judge panel of the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco decided to put on hold the blockbuster ruling by Judge Vaughn Walker striking down Prop. 8. This means that no gay marriages can take place in California until at least early December, when the Ninth Circuit will hear arguments as to whether the proponents of Prop. 8 have the legal authority to appeal Judge Walker’s decision. The Lord had given a word, “He had Pharaoh right where he wanted him.” We agreed.

A team from Texas had come earlier that morning to release a cry for mercy from the gateway of San Francisco. Our paths overlapped as the Lord called us to assignment in the gate.

August 15 Pastors Jonathan and Sharon Ngai and who are also members of our RPN CA team organized a statewide initiative to mobilize an hour of praise and worship in the High Places of all 58 counties throughout the state. Each group of worshippers met at the highest place of their county to worship the Lord for 1 hour. We continue to receive reports from regional leaders about breakthrough in the heavens.

August 16 Corporate Prayer meetings were held throughout the state

5 cities coastal region two counties rallied to cover the state in prayer and six cities held prayer meetings; we also translated the prayer guide into Spanish.

Pastor Reggie of the King’s Way Church in Turlock writes: Warm greetings from Turlock

California’s Root 52 prayer initiative held at our church was powerful and well attended. Audrey provided incredible leadership as she led us each night for 7 nights. ..A greater measure of hope and expectation has risen in our church. Two new un-churched families have been added to us and this Sunday we will receive into membership 8 people.  Coincidence? I think not.  We thank God, that by His grace, we are seeing increase both in numbers and power.

August 17^th All 58 counties joined in a corporate fast and Statewide Conference Prayer Call Corporately all 58 counties joined in a unified effort to fast based on Isaiah 58, “Is not this the fast I have chosen.” The prayer call lasted for 2 hours from 7-9 PM and was supported by over 100 people including ministry groups and prayer leaders. It reflected the call upon our state to unify and stand together for kingdom advancement. Together we lifted up one voice. The prayer time was extremely powerful as we prayed through many issues and prophetic words outlined in our California Prayer Guide including eugenics, water control, unity, souls, repentance, hostility in the womb and much more. We received wisdom and revelation to address certain situations and God’s word went forth and prospered in the way he sent it. The Lord was with us and I believe we prayed His heart in the matters at hand!!

August 18^th Statewide Meeting Camarillo Jubilee Church Pastors Steve & Cammie Dittmar

Jubilee Church provided live webcast of the evening meeting and those who were unable to attend in person were able to join us via the web.

Vicki Nohrden ministered out of Nehemiah 6:15-16 instructing us about our position and call to stand in the gap and build. She released a word of revelation regarding the dismantling of Babylon’s bricks and why the Lord had silenced their voice. It was a false unity, wrong motive; it was a false voice of divination and vain visions. Corporately we declared that we would be God’s voice and that the perversion over the airwaves of the media would be silenced.  We prayed for a sound from heaven’s throne, God’s voice to be heard in the land. We prayed/declared that the walls of untempered mortar (Ezekiel13;10-11) would come down. We ended with declarations and prayer. We declared we were crossing over. The honor, the order and the crossover that our state was coming into alignment with God’s time.

August 19 Corporate Prayer meetings continued throughout the state

RPN team Member Sharon Webster wrote: A shift has taken in my region [the Central Coast] in regards to unity and restoring covenant in the land. During the ROOT-52 CA two counties rallied to cover the state in prayer and six cities held prayer meetings. I was invited to speak at a church where 10 years earlier covenant breaking had taken place — this was a huge step forward for this church — the pastor and people wholeheartedly responded to what the Lord was saying and doing in the state and nation.

August 20 San Diego Skyline Church hosted by Uniting Our Hearts In Prayer Keat and Judy Wade During our evening meeting we repented of and uprooted an anti -Semitic spirit that came in through the gateway of La Jolla’s unwritten anti –Semitic housing policy. This policy prevented property from being sold to Jewish people. In response California covenanted with the land of Israel by receiving an offering to plant an olive tree in Israel through the ministry of MY OLIVE TREE.com. Enough money was received to plant three trees and in keeping with covenant and for the purpose of unity and protecting our borders we choose to plant them in southeast corner of the state in Imperial County and two northern California counties on the border, Modoc on the northeast corner and  Del Norte in the northwest corner.

Being a border gateway of both the land and the sea the Lord brought revelation through Vicki Nohrden as she ministered that evening regarding the spirit of “Califi” that was noted to sit atop the Hotel Del Coronado. Research revealed he was noted to be the sun god of Mexico. Califi overlooks the gateway entrance to Coronado as well as the gateway of our naval military ships. The Lord revealed his strategy to deal with this gateway. That night many were mobilized to assist in this work. RPN leaders Judy and Keat wade will be leading this initiative.

The Lord released also released a prophetic declaration in song after we declared Lift up your heads O ye gates and be thou lifted up ye everlasting doors and let the King of glory come in…..

He’s coming through the gates and the gates are going to shake………………

While on Coronado Island (means the crown jewel) Dan and Vicki Nohrden received great favor and were granted permission to go aboard the ship US Ronald Reagan. They were given a tour of the ship and granted permission while standing at the 09 level where the air boss runs operations to pray for our nation and the war strategies for this military ship that holds over 80 warplanes in its deployment.

Evening prayer was hosted in Santa Maria and we await their report.

In conclusion the Lord gathered us during this month of Elul and encouraged us with the words of Nehemiah 6:15-16

So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.

In this day, God is bringing fresh revelation to the Church about the importance of taking possession of the High Places in our land. The enemy has tried his best to set up his altar on every physical hill (I Kings 14:23) and in every mountain of society, but the Lord is raising up Josiahs in this hour to purge the high places and destroy the altars that have been established by the enemy. (2 Chronicles 34:3-5). It is through this cleansing that TRUE WORSHIP can be established again in its proper place (2 Chronicles 34:8).

As the ROOT 52 Initiative comes to California (for more information on ROOT 52 go to: http://www.rpnca.org/ or http://www.generals.org/prayer/rpn/root-52/) – we have designated a night to RECLAIM THE HIGH PLACES in our State! We are calling believers in each of the 58 counties to convene at a high place on Sunday, August 15^th @ 7pm to simultaneously tear down the altars of Baal and to release True Worship back into our land!! We believe this is going to be a historic night that will be instrumental in purging our land and turning our State back to its covenant roots with the Lord!

Many of you are aware of the ROOT 52 National Prayer Strategy that began in January this year, whereas we are weekly praying and fasting state by state until we have accomplished praying for all 50 states at the conclusion of this year. The prayer strategy encompasses each state as they joined the Union, California being the 31st state. California will soon hold her week’s position to stand in the gap beginning August 13-20 and in doing so the ROOT 52 call is prayer and fasting for our state. As I considered this call to fast I was quickened by the Lord that California has 58 counties and reminded that Isaiah 58 is an expression of the Lord’s declaration of a true heart fast. In conclusion if an individual, a ministry or an entire church from each county would be willing to fast we could accomplish this as a corporate cry (united) with one voice unto the Lord for California.

Tuesday evening August 17th United State Reformation Prayer Network California will be hosting our weekly ROOT 52 statewide Prayer Call for California and have declared that Tuesday as our 58 county corporate day of fasting.

Join us as we purpose to gather in prayer and declaration over California’s destiny. The Lord is casting a mantle and a commissioning call upon our state, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us.” May our corporate reply be heard in the heavens, “Here we are Lord send us.”

The Lord is calling us to meet with Him to release a new sound that will set in motion a harvesting wind. He has been forming a new wineskin, a governmental mantling of resurrection power to release a holy fire into our state empowering us to declare His word with boldness and to stand courageously in the face of adversity. The call has been issued the Lord awaits our response.

The nation will be focused in prayer for California the week of August 13-20. On Friday, August 13th Vicki Nohrden, Apostolic State Leader for the CA. Reformation Prayer Network, will receive the prayer torch on behalf of California to carry and release it throughout the state. Vicki will be ministering to us at Jubilee on Wednesday evening, August 18th. Leaders of the Gulf Coast states have designated Sunday a day of prayer for the regions affected by the oil spill that has sent millions of gallons of crude gushing into the Gulf of Mexico for the last 66 days.

The governors of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, and the Lt. Governor of Florida issued proclamations this week calling their citizens to pray for a solution that stops the leak and for the recovery of the coastline and the fish and wildlife industries devastated by the April 20 BP oil rig explosion that killed 11 workers.

“Throughout our history, Alabamians have humbly turned to God to ask for His blessings and to hold us steady during times of struggle,” Alabama Gov. Bob Riley stated in a proclamation issued Wednesday. “This is certainly one of those times.”

Although there is no coordinated national effort to mobilize prayer Sunday, the Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC) and the national Family Research Council are urging their supporters to participate.

“I really want to encourage the church to not knee-jerk and think about this as some kind of environmental issue that they should not have any interest in,” said FFPC President John Stemberger.

“This is clearly a stewardship issue,” he said. “All Christians need to be concerned about this. We need to be praying for the families of the men who were killed in the explosion, be praying for the government and the private sector initiatives trying to stop this [leak].”

Cindy Jacobs, co-founder of the U.S. Reformation Prayer Network, said prayer efforts have been under way in the Gulf region since the April explosion that led to the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. “Our prayer network all along the Gulf is fervently praying,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs, who is leading a separate prayer effort for the Gulf Coast June 30, said Bob Jones prophesied in 1997 that after healing evangelist Oral Roberts died there would be an oil spill off the coast of Louisiana, which would be followed by two hurricanes. Roberts died Dec. 15.

Since the Gulf oil spill, Jacobs’ network has been praying that no hurricanes would hit the Atlantic Coast, which she said would be “an unbelievable disaster.”

Jones wrote in an online message earlier this month that he believes only God can stop the leak. “There is no help for this nation apart from God,” Jones wrote June 3. “We must cry out for God to plug the oil well in the Gulf for He’s the only one that can do it! And He’ll only do it when the church cries out.”

In a conference call last week, prophetic minister Chuck Pierce of Glory of Zion Ministries agreed with that sentiment. “I really cannot see how we’re going to move in and contain what’s happening right now,” said Pierce, adding that his father used to inspect oil rigs.

“Something’s got to come deeper and stir the waters to cleanse the waters,” he continued. “And I think God is saying that same word to us: You’re going to have to have a deeper move in you as My people to cleanse in places that you have allowed an unclean spirit to come in and overtake you.”

Gary Palmer, president of the Alabama Policy Institute, said Sunday’s prayer effort grew out of a dream an area businessman had in which he saw people in prayer and Gov. Riley having issued a proclamation.

“He saw people gathered on the Gulf, and he felt this compelling that this is what we needed to do,” Palmer said of the businessman, who asked to remain anonymous.

The man contacted Palmer, who then solicited help from WallBuilders founder David Barton, who drafted the prayer day proclamations for the governors to adapt.

Some churches have said there isn’t enough time to organize corporate prayer Sunday, but Palmer said the prayer day is as much a call for churches to encourage people to intercede for the Gulf Coast.  “It doesn’t have to just be the 27th,” he said. “We just need people to be aware that we’re going to need some divine intervention.”

Jacobs believes the oil spill is more than a natural disaster but partly the result of greed, debauchery on the beaches, poor environmental stewardship and a lack of U.S. support for Israel—all issues her network has been repenting of since the leak began.

“Whenever there’s violent weather or some things like this, you have to ask if it’s just a natural disaster or if you’re reaping something that’s been sown,” she said. “We feel this is a cumulative thing.”

Jacobs points particularly to President Obama’s treatment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visited the White House in March. Netanyahu reportedly was scolded for proceeding with plans to build in disputed areas of east Jerusalem and denied a photo op, press conference and other trappings of visits from heads of state.

“We can’t say that’s all the reason why, but certainly I believe we need to come into some repentance,” she said.

Jacobs notes that the last point of Second Chronicles 7:14 is that if God’s people pray, He will heal the land. “This is the same God that caused all the plagues of Egypt to go in a night,” Jacobs said. “He’s no different today. He can do what we cannot do in miraculous ways.”
